Terms of Service

Last updated: 15 June 2026

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of OpenAdLibrary (the "Service"), an open ad-transparency and competitive-intelligence library operated by OpenAdLibrary ("we", "us"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

OpenAdLibrary catalogues public advertising placements, captures the associated creative, traces the publicly observable supply chain and landing pages, and provides intelligence and tooling built on top of that data. The Service indexes publicly available material; it does not provide access to any private, paywalled, or non-public content.

2. Accounts & eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
  • You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account.
  • You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Access may be invite-only or subject to approval. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to the Service or other users.

3. Plans & billing

The Service offers a free tier and a paid Premium plan. Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through our payment processor. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and does not entitle you to a refund of fees already paid except where required by law. We may change pricing on prospective renewals with reasonable notice.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, resell, or redistribute the dataset in bulk except as expressly permitted by your plan and the API terms.
  • Use the Service to infringe intellectual-property rights, violate privacy, or break any applicable law.
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, per-key isolation, or security measures.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
  • Use automated tooling to create accounts or to abuse free-tier limits.

5. API & integrations

Programmatic access via our REST API and hosted MCP server is provided under per-user keys. You are responsible for keeping keys secret and for usage attributable to your keys. We may throttle, suspend, or revoke API access for abuse or to protect the Service. Only publicly available data is exposed through these interfaces.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and original content, is owned by us and protected by law. Indexed advertising creatives and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners; they are surfaced for transparency, research, and competitive-intelligence purposes. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

7. Methodology & data accuracy

We capture public ad observations without clicking live ads and resolve advertisers from publicly observable redirect chains. We strive for accuracy but the data is provided "as is" and may be incomplete or contain errors. See our capture & click policy for how data is collected.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the Service or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
